It’s been 6 months since I was offered the opportunity to join WeAre3Fold. The offer came during a period when I was working a 9-5 job in client services within the ever-growing tech sector. I was 24 years old with a stable job, income, and all-around stable lifestyle. However, I kept asking myself the question…is this it?
I wasn’t after stability at 24 years of age. Coming out of the 2-year pandemic being locked inside our homes I found myself in my bedroom, behind a laptop and struggling to comprehend that this would be my life for the next 40 years.
With this thought in mind, when 3Fold offered me a job it was an opportunity couldn’t refuse. There were, nevertheless, certain risks in taking on this role. For example, I was leaving a thriving tech sector in a stable occupation for a small company in which I would be their first full-time employee. Additionally, I was entering a sector I knew little about and like all new roles I feared being out of my depth.
These doubts, however, were quickly dismissed in my first week at 3Fold when I flew away to Quebec, Canada to work on the Montreal Grand Prix for a global database company. It was my first time in Canada, and it was also my first Grand Prix experience. The adventure I was dreaming about during the pandemic had arrived and it did not disappoint! And from a work perspective, 3Fold were there every step of the way to help me excel in my job. From that point on, I have never looked back.
It has been non-stop ever since working on 3 different continents in 6 months. It’s safe to say my former stable lifestyle has disappeared! However, my office is no longer located in my bedroom, instead, it has been at St Andrew’s for the 150th Open or in Monza for the Italian Grand Prix.
Thanks to 3Fold it feels as though I have a direction and purpose for the first time in my professional career. I’m sure my story is no different to many people reading this blog who took a similar risk in changing their career paths. To take such a leap is clearly situational on your professional fulfilment and personal circumstances. However, if you were like me 6 months ago and searching for a further purpose with nothing holding you back and knowing you’ll be entering a fantastic new workforce similar to what I experienced with 3Fold I would highly recommend taking that leap.
